The GSMA AgriTech Accelerator commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is part of the Fund for the Promotion of Innovation in Agriculture (i4Ag) and being carried out by the GSMA on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).

Program Aim:

In order to improve smallholder farmers’ livelihoods, financial inclusion, and climate resilience, this program intends to encourage and accelerate the creation of creative, revenue-generating digital agriculture solutions.

What to Benefits

During a period of two years, the GSMA will offer technical support to up to ten chosen applications (cohort members) in order to aid in the development of digital agriculture solutions.

Members of the cohort will gain access to a variety of technical support resources, including as specialized advising from the GSMA team, user experience and product design/management support, farmer feedback surveys, access to GSMA events and insights, and capacity building for investor preparedness.

No direct grant funding will be provided to cohort members of the Accelerator.

The following are some instances of use cases that support smallholder farmers’ access to resources, markets, and services and are pertinent to the Accelerator’s goal:

  • Digital Advisory
  • Agri Digital Financial Services
  • Digital procurement
  • Agri e-commerce
  • Smart Farming

Countries That Are Eligible

Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Egypt, Jordan, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Senegal, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia

 

Eligibility Criteria

The Accelerator will select up to ten (10) digital agriculture solution providers who have deployed services aligned with the Accelerator’s objectives and meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Demonstrate impact
  • Revenue generating entity
  • For Profit organization
  • Implementing country
  • Intellectual property
  • Inclusivity
