Finalist will also have the opportunity to pitch your solution at the AU EU Innovation Festival in Cape Town and win a license to the Accelerator squared program!
Green Transition Challenge Categories
Choose from the following categories:
Low-carbon consumption:
Are you designing new models to reconcile the preservation of the planet with economic development? This category is meant for you.
Low-carbon production:
Are you one of those companies that hybridize technologies or invent new ways of producing or storing electricity? Give your project the power to transform the future and apply.
Decarbonizing through digital technology:
For you, climate equals data? If you are one of those who see digital as a solution and not just a problem, you are in the right place.
Eligibility Criteria
The Green Transition Challenge Challenge is open and offered solely to:
- Duly registered and incorporated companies in Europe and Africa, employing no more than 30 people, and acting in one of the following fields:
- Low-carbon consumption: for example designing new models to reconcile the preservation of the planet with economic development;
- Low-carbon production: for example innovative ways of producing or storing electricity;
- Decarbonising through digital technology.
2. Which comply with these Rules and the Terms and Conditions of Use, as well as the laws, regulations and other texts in force in relation to such Challenge.
Application Timeline For Green Transition Challenge
- Application
March 27, 2023 – May 7, 2023
Answer a few questions & submit your 5–10 slides ppt deck to present your solution.
- Shortlisting
May 8, 2023 – May 14 2023
Projects will be reviewed and selected by EDF and ENRICH in Africa partners.
- Final Event
June, 15 2023
The 3 finalists will be invited to pitch at the AU-EU innovation festival in Cape Town.

Finalist prizes include:
- The Grand Winner will earn a spot in the EDF Pulse Africa program.
As well as:
- Invitation to the final event in Cape Town.
- Visibility through EIA main communication channels.
- A License for the Accelerator Squared online platform.
During the Final Event Ceremony, you will have the opportunity to pitch at a major AU-EU Innovation event in front of EDF top executives and network with key players from the European and African innovation ecosystem.
How To Apply For Green Transition Challenge
Complete the participation form and submit a 5 to 10-slide PowerPoint proposal deck addressing how your technology/capability can be demonstrated in the theme of your choice. You can choose to participate in several themes if you wish.
Your Proposal could include the following:
- Project structure, its team and its motivations
- The solution or product developed, as well as its market and business model
- Main technical specifications of your solution
- The stage of progress: tests, prototypes, fundraising, commercial contacts, support and partners, awards…
- Optional: Short video showcasing your concept / solution
