FMN Prize for Innovation initiative organized by Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc was established to encourage new ideas and innovations in the food and agro-allied sector in Nigeria and across the continent and how these can impact and enable a sustainable food system in Nigeria.
The 3rd season of the FMN – PFI will focus on discovering innovators within the food and agro-allied sector that are actively and innovatively driving the attainment of food self-sufficiency in Nigeria.
This edition of FMN Prize for Innovation is open for registered food or agro-allied business in Nigeria and undergraduates or postgraduates student with interest in the food and agro-allied industry.
This year’s edition seeks innovative ways to develop and increase usage of local materials in the food industry, to meet local demands.
FMN Prize for Innovation Application Process
This year’s FMN Prize for Innovation edition is divided into two categories:
Category 1: Registered Businesses (Micro, Small & Medium Scale Enterprise Owners)
Category 1 Eligibility
- Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) that are registered in Nigeria and operate in the agro-processing and food production space.
- Your big idea and innovative solution must address the use of precision agriculture in boosting food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
- Your idea should have a solid proof-of-concept, a social or commercial purpose, and a clear roadmap to scale.
Application process for Category 1

- Complete the form on or before 15th of February 2024.
- Upload a 60-second video and a short presentation on your Innovative techniques for Driving Food Self-Sufficiency in Nigeria Through Precision Agriculture
- Your presentation should clearly indicate how your idea will utilize precision agriculture to boost food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
- Your entry must be accompanied by a proof of Business registration.
Category 2: Nigerian Students (Undergraduates & Post Graduates)
Eligibility for Category 2
- Nigerian Students (Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels)
- Your big idea and innovative solution must address the use of precision agriculture in boosting food production in Nigeria’s food and agro-allied sector.
- Your idea has a solid proof-of-concept and a social or commercial purpose.
Application process for Category 2
- To apply, visit

- Upload a 60 seconds video on your Innovative techniques for Driving food self-sufficiency in Nigeria through precision agriculture
- Your presentation should clearly indicate how your idea will facilitate the use of precision agriculture to drive food self-sufficiency within the Nigerian food value chain.
