NCDMB National Undergraduate Essay Competition sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) is designed to promote the Nigerian Content (NC) initiative and create the awareness for Nigerians to build local capacity to participate effectively in Nigerian’s Oil and Gas industry.

The 2024 Essay Topic is: NIGERIAN CONTENT AND OPPORTUNITIES IN AFRICAN LOCAL CONTENT ADVANCEMENT

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) was established in 2010 by the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act. NCDMB is vested with the mandate to make procedures that will guide, monitor, coordinate and implement the provisions of the NOGICD Act signed into law on April 22, 2010.

The foundation for NCDMB was laid in 2001 when former President Olusegun Obasanjo inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Local Content in the Oil and Gas Industry.

CONTEST RULES

This contest is open only to 100-200 level students in public and private Nigerian – Universities and Polytechnics.
The competition opens on 16th September 2024 and extended to 31st October, 2024.
Completed manuscripts and accompanying documents must be submitted to www.ncdmbessay.ng on or before 31^st October, 2024. Late manuscripts will not be accepted.
Entrants must submit either a letter of admission or a signed letter of attestation from his/her Head of Department (HOD).
All essays must be original works specifically written for the competition.
Co-authorship of essay is not permitted.
Entrants are to submit only one entry.
Manuscripts must not exceed 1,500 WORDS.
Current contact information of each entrant including phone number and email address MUST ACCOMPANY THE MANUSCRIPT, IN THE PROVIDED ESSAY SUBMISSION FORM WHEN LOGGED IN FOR SUBMISSION.
Entrants’ NAMES SHALL NOT APPEAR ON THE MANUSCRIPT (i.e content of your essay).
Essays will be judged based on: Clarity of Expression, Spelling and Grammar, Originality of thought, Depth of Analysis, Relevance to Industry, and Conformity to Contest Rules.
All essays will be subjected to plagiarism check (software application) to determine originality.
The award/prize giving ceremony comes up 14th November, 2024
The winning essay will be published in the NCDMB’s in-house magazine, Local Content Digest.
