Applications are open for QS ImpACT Skills Challenge 2026. The QS ImpACT Skills Challenge 2026 invites young people from around the world to design playable digital games that address real-world sustainability challenges aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This is a “Games for Good” challenge — where creativity, technology, and impact come together.
It aims to inspire youth to create innovative impact-driven games that address social and environmental issues, educate and engage players, foster a collaborative global community, and recognise outstanding work that drives meaningful change.
The QS ImpACT Skills Challenge uses digital video games as a learning and problem-solving tool, enabling participants to build practical skills while working in diverse, global teams. The challenge is designed to strengthen creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and social impact awareness among youth worldwide.
Eligibility Criteria for QS ImpACT Skills Challenge
- Open to young people aged 18–35
- Teams of 2–5 participants
- Open globally — all nationalities welcome
- No prior game design experience required
Tracks
Participants will compete in one of two tracks, based on experience level. Both tracks are judged separately, with equal recognition and opportunities.
- Beginner Track
- For first-time creators and non-technical teams.
- Participants will use no-code or low-code tools to design interactive, playable game experiences.
- Advanced Track
- For teams with programming experience.
- Participants can build more complex games using their preferred engines, frameworks, or languages.
QS ImpACT Skills Challenge Benefits

- Showcase and Recognition: Winners and runners-up from each track will share a £2,000 seed funding pool and gain global visibility through featured showcases across QS ImpACT and QS platforms, including an invitation to present at the QS ImpACT Youth Summit 2026 in London.
- All participants who submit a game will receive certificates and digital badges recognising their contribution and skills.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated by a global panel of judges based on:
- Impact & SDG Alignment – clarity and relevance of the challenge addressed
- Creativity & Innovation – originality of concept and gameplay
- Game Design & Playability – engagement, clarity, and user experience
- Feasibility & Scalability – potential to grow or be implemented further
- Team Collaboration & Learning – evidence of thoughtful development
How To Apply for QS ImpACT Skills Challenge
Each team must submit:
- A minimum of 1 level playable version of the game
- A short game concept summary, including SDG alignment and problem definition
- A brief impact reflection outlining intended learning or behavioural outcomes
