Applications are open for AIIDEV Africa Sustainable Energy Accelerator (SEA) Cohort. The Sustainable Energy Accelerator (SEA) is a flagship innovation initiative of AIIDEV Africa designed to advance sustainable energy solutions and strengthen entrepreneurial capacity within Africa’s energy sector. The programme is strategically aligned with continental development priorities, aiming to accelerate the deployment of scalable clean energy technologies, stimulate inclusive economic growth, enhance social equity, and address critical energy access and sustainability challenges across the region.

Structured as an intensive six-month accelerator, SEA provides selected innovators and early-stage ventures with a comprehensive support ecosystem to refine, validate, and scale their sustainable energy solutions. The curriculum integrates advanced technical workshops, applied case-study analysis, innovation research methodologies, immersive bootcamps, and structured mentorship engagements. This multifaceted approach equips participants with enhanced technical knowledge, business acumen, and leadership capabilities requisite for driving transformative impact within Africa’s evolving energy landscape.

AIIDEV Africa Sustainable Energy Accelerator Key Focus Areas

SEA welcomes applications from innovators and ventures developing solutions across the sustainable energy value chain, including:

Renewable energy generation, distribution, and mini-grid systems
Energy efficiency technologies for buildings, industry, and transportation
Energy storage, management, and smart grid solutions
Clean cooking and household energy innovations
Digital platforms and IoT-enabled energy services
Sustainable mobility and low-carbon transportation systems

Eligibility Criteria

Prospective participants must satisfy the following criteria:

Geographic Eligibility: Citizen and resident of a Sub-Saharan African country.
Age Range: Between 21 and 40 years of age.
Sectoral Commitment: Demonstrated interest and dedication to renewable energy, the green economy, and sustainable development in Africa.
Leadership Potential: Evidence of initiative, collaborative capacity, and commitment to generating measurable community or sectoral impact.
Time Commitment: Availability to dedicate a minimum of five (5) hours per week to programme activities over the four-month duration.
Technical Access: Reliable internet connectivity and access to appropriate digital devices to facilitate consistent virtual participation.
