Applications are open for Girl Up Ubuntu Leaders Africa Program 2026, a leadership initiative designed to empower young African women and girls with the skills, mentorship, and global exposure needed to drive change in their communities.
The program is part of , a global leadership development initiative of the focused on advancing gender equality and youth leadership. The Girl Up Ubuntu Leaders Africa Program is a leadership and capacity-building initiative aimed at nurturing young female leaders across Africa.
Ubuntu Leaders are part of the Girl Up Kinship Network, a youth-centered initiative that supports the growth of the Girl Up movement while strengthening youth leadership across regions. In this role, Ubuntu Leaders will support the Girl Up EMEA team with youth leadership programming, club engagement, digital storytelling, and program coordination.
The Girl Up Kinship- Ubuntu Leaders – Africa will support the expansion and coordination of Girl Up activities across the region, particularly in the areas of club engagement, youth leadership programming, partnerships, communications, and program administration.
Two Ubuntu Leaders will be selected, one based in Kenya and one based in Nigeria, to strengthen Girl Up’s presence and youth leadership ecosystem across the EMEA Region.
Key Functions and Responsibilities
Selected Ubuntu Leaders will support the Girl Up EMEA staff in the following major areas:
Program Administration & Coordination, Club Tracking & Ecosystem Support, Youth Leadership Activations & Events, Content Creation & Digital Engagement, Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation.
This includes:
- Provide administrative support for regional leadership programs, grassroots leaders, trainings, and convenings.
- Assist with organizing program materials, documents, and program calendars.
- Support coordination of virtual meetings, workshops, and youth engagement sessions.
- Maintain organized program documentation and records.
- Support tracking of Girl Up clubs across Africa using internal databases and tracking systems.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in university/college.
- Be based in Kenya or Nigeria.
- Demonstrate strong interest in girls’ leadership, gender justice, youth advocacy, or social impact work.
- Have experience or interest in youth organizing, community initiatives, or student leadership.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Possess basic experience in digital tools and AI knowledge
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be proactive, creative, and able to work independently.
- Have access to a personal laptop and a reliable internet connection.
- Be available to dedicate 15–20 hours per week to the role.
