Applications for AmplifyChange Strengthening Grants 2026 opens on May 21st. Strengthening Grants support advocacy work for small to medium civil society organisations that seek to bring about change in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Up to 40% of a Strengthening Grant can be used to support the costs of organisational development and boosting organisational effectiveness.

At least 30% of the available funding will be allocated to applications focused on the Governments ensuring funding for SRHR outcome area, as a response to current global trends.

We recognise that many legally marginalised groups may face barriers to engaging directly in this area. We therefore encourage these groups to develop proposals under other outcome areas that align with their work, expertise, and operating context.

The duration of a Strengthening Grant is 24 to 36 months. This funding round is open for applications for GBP 100,000 to GBP 200,000. We encourage you to be realistic and apply for the amount that is best for your organisation and project.

Eligibility Criteria for AmplifyChange Strengthening Grants

All applicants must meet the general eligibility criteria as well as the criteria detailed below.

Your organisation must be registered and implementing a project in one of the AmplifyChange eligible countries.
Your organisation must have a bank account.
You must be a small to medium sized organisation with an average annual expenditure over the past two years between GBP 150,000 and GBP 350,000 per year. For example, if your expenditure in 2021 was GBP 350,000 GBP, and in 2022 it was GBP 400,000, the average would be GBP 375,000 – this would mean you would not be eligible to apply.
You will be asked to submit evidence for your expenditure values. This could be an audited report or a profit and loss statement.
Due to high demand in recent funding rounds we are only receiving one submitted application per organisation.

Projects must be based in one of the following countries.

Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde,Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, India, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan ,Republic of Congo, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe

What are They looking for?

Priority themes
- The purpose of this Strengthening Grant call is to fund small to medium civil society organisations, support their advocacy work, and strengthen them so they can bring about positive change in one of the AmplifyChange priority themes or an intersection or combination of themes: Violence, Abortion, Inclusion, SRHR Education and Access.
Outcome Areas
- Applications must respond to one or more of our outcome areas in our Theory of Change: Increased awareness of SRHR as human rights; Policy and law reforms that improve SRHR access; Improved access to quality SRH services; More inclusive social norms and reduced stigma and discrimination; and Governments ensuring funding for SRHR.
Others Themes
- Within their priority themes, AmplifyChange supports cross-cutting themes that impact on SRHR and well-being and respond to challenges that advocates identify as their priorities for action. We are happy to receive applications from organisations who wish to integrate these issues into their proposals: Climate Justice, Pleasure and Mental health.

Civil Society Organisation

They recognise the broad scope of civil society and the wide range of organisations, actors and coalitions it encompasses.

Women’s rights organisations
Faith-based organisations
Human rights organisations

AmplifyChange Strengthening Grants Application process

They only accept applications submitted through the Grants Portal. You can watch a series of guidance videos about the Grants Portal here.
Once you have an active profile in their Grants Portal, you will need to update your organisational and individual profiles before applying for funding. Click here to learn more.
You can start a new application by going to ‘Apply for a Grant’ under ‘Information’ on the Grants Portal dashboard. Only grants that are open for applications will appear.
The system will not automatically save your application as you fill in your details, so please save regularly as you go along. Applications that have already been started can be found in the ‘Pending’ section.
You can update or edit your application as many times as you wish before you submit it to us for consideration. Click here to learn more.
When you are happy with your application and have uploaded all relevant documents, ensure you click ‘Submit’ at the bottom right of the screen or your application will not be processed.
You will be able to download a PDF of your application at any point during your submission.
They urge you to not wait until the last minute to submit your application. User activity in the Grants Portal spikes in the last hour before our funding window closes, meaning that problems can arise that prevent you from successfully saving or submitting your application. We cannot accept any applications submitted after the deadline.
