Applications are open for ASCO International Innovation Grant 2026. Conquer Cancer®, the ASCO Foundation, is accepting applications for the International Innovation Grant (IIG) to support innovative cancer research projects that can significantly improve cancer control in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
The International Innovation Grant (IIG) provides research funding in support of novel and innovative projects that can have a significant impact on cancer control in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It is intended to support proposals that have the potential to reduce the cancer burden in local communities, while also being potentially transferable to other low- or middle-income settings.
The IIG is a two-step application process requiring a Letter of Intent (LOI) followed by a full proposal. Applicants whose LOI meet the eligibility and research project criteria will be invited to submit a full proposal.
The grant supports hypothesis-driven research projects that generate new knowledge on advancing cancer control in low- and middle-income settings. Projects should propose novel and innovative approaches with the potential to reduce the cancer burden in local communities while producing findings that can be adapted or transferred to other LMIC settings. Grant recipients are expected to disseminate the knowledge generated through their research.
All Conquer Cancer research grant applications are carefully reviewed and evaluated by an independent Grants Selection Committee (Committee) using consistent criteria across all applications for each grant or award type. The Committee scores and ranks the applications, and the highest-scoring applications are funded.
In some circumstances, applications already approved to receive funding based on their high application scores may be matched with Conquer Cancer grants that have additional donor-specified criteria. However, all approved applications will receive Conquer Cancer research grants. In no case will an application not eligible for funding in the initial review process receive a Conquer Cancer research grant.
