The Comics Advocacy Group is delighted to announce the launch of our second Mini Grant! The CAG Mini Grant provides small, unrestricted funding to comic creators who are in need of additional resources. As the cost of food and rent are growing prohibitive, many creators find themselves taking on additional work with time they do not have in order to make ends meet. Their goal in offering this $500 mutual aid grant is to give cartoonists some time and space to work on the projects most important to them.
Earlier this year, CAG awarded our first round of mini grants to thirty recipients. We checked in with them recently, and were delighted by the breadth of responses we received. Our awardees were able to use the CAG Mini Grant to turn down low-paying gigs, purchase art supplies, strengthen their CVs, pay for rent and childcare, buy groceries, and more.
We are excited to welcome international creators with this second round of mini grants, and are looking forward to expanding our grant offerings even further in the years to come. Applications for this round will close at 12PM EST on January 15, 2025.
