Founders will receive up to $150k in equity-free funding, up to another $200k in Cloud Credits, and access to the best of Google—people, product, and best practices.

    Program Overview

    Google for Startups Black Founders Fund is a non-dilutive $4 million fund that will be distributed over a group of Black-founded companies in Europe and Africa over the course of the next 12 months. It also includes up to $100,000 in Google Cloud Credits for each startup in the first year, ad support, one-on-one mentoring from industry experts, and priceless connections within Google’s network. We have given founders $13 million in cash since 2021, and those founders have since raised $205 million in additional capital.

    Eligibility Criteria

    In Africa, we are currently accepting applicants from the following countries in Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Côte D’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

    Eligible startups are:

    • Headquartered in Africa or has a legal presence on the continent
    • Building with global ambitions in mind
    • Creating jobs, has growth potential to raise more funding, and making an impact

    Program Benefits

    • Up to $150,000 in equity-free, non-dilutive cash rewards for each startup
    • Cloud Credits worth up to $200k
    • Access to a network of mentors to help tackle each startup’s unique challenges

     

     

    Application Timeline

    • March 26th 2023: Applications for the 2023 Black Founders Fund in Europe and Africa close.
    • Mid-April 2023: Startups will be notified if they have been invited to interview for the 2023 Black Founders Fund in Europe and Africa.
    • May 2023: Successful startups notified
    • June 11th-15th: In-person kick-off London and Paris
    • June – Nov 2023: Program
