Applications are now open for the Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa #MoreThanAWoman initiative to support the development of a docuseries intended to spotlight grassroot women innovators and promote their entrepreneurial stories.
Through storytelling, this docuseries will elevate the voices of promising and/or successful women innovators, especially those with previously untold stories, and showcase their potential for further investment, growth and scalability.
By highlighting these role models and success stories, the #MoreThanAWoman initiative aims to demonstrate the true worth of grassroots women innovators in contributing towards a thriving economy and innovation ecosystem. They deserve an equal seat at the investment table.
Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa is a six-year project funded by UK International Development through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). The project is designed to strengthen and scale local innovation systems in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa, through four core interventions, one of which is Place-Based Innovation.
The #MoreThanAWoman Initiative is a part of the Place-Based Innovation (PBI) intervention. The PBI intervention focuses on strengthening the capacity and resilience of local innovation ecosystems through first working to better understand regional challenges, capabilities and potential for innovation, and then supporting action-orientated local innovation networks in areas of high potential.
