Applications are open for MILEAD Fellows Program 2026. The Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa (MILEAD) is now accepting applications for the 2026 MILEAD Fellows Program — a transformative leadership initiative committed to identifying, developing, and supporting Africa’s next generation of bold and visionary female leaders.
For over a decade, MILEAD Fellows have been catalysts for transformative change, breaking barriers, implementing life-changing initiatives, and challenging systems that discriminate against women and girls.
Their program is crafted to identify, nurture, and elevate the next generation of African female leaders, equipping them with the skills and support needed to thrive in leadership roles across Africa.
ABOUT THE MILEAD FELLOWS PROGRAM
- The MILEAD Fellows Program is a bold and paradigm-shifting initiative committed to the long-term leadership development of promising young leaders selected as Fellows.
- Fellows benefit from a combination of training, experiential learning, and mentoring crafted to build knowledge and skills, strengthen networks, and facilitate a supportive ecosystem of women’s leadership on critical issues.
- In addition, the program links determined young women with influential and seasoned African leaders who are committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation. Most importantly, Fellows benefit from lifelong solidarity and support through the MILEAD Network.
- One of the distinguishing features of their program is the deliberate integration of community service into the yearlong training. Each Fellow will initiate and lead a community change (MiCHANGE) project on a critical issue of importance to their community or African women as a whole.
Program Benefits
- A mandatory three-week fully residential Summer Institute in Ghana, providing intensive leadership immersion and training
- A one-year fellowship that includes online learning, mentorship, and community-based action
