The U.S. Consulate General Lagos of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. The U.S. Consulate General Lagos invites eligible organizations to submit proposals for the Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program.

Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Consulate General Lagos invites proposals for projects that strengthen the connections between the people of the United States and the people of Nigeria through projects highlighting our shared goals and values. All programs MUST include an American component, some examples include American expert engagement (in person or virtual), American cultural celebrations and icons, U.S. training curriculum, and use of American Spaces materials. Projects that incorporate strong American components into their design will be prioritized over other proposals.

Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program Priority Region

The announcement is an open competition for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are either registered in Nigeria or the United States that will implement their projects in the U.S. Consulate’s area of responsibilities: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Imo, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, and Rivers states.

- Awards may range from a minimum of $20,000 to a maximum of $50,000
Duration
- Program Performance Period: Proposed projects should be completed in 12 months or less.

U.S. Consulate General, Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U.S. Department of State encourages applicants to apply to this opportunity unless the idea better fits an individual 2025 NOFO. This Annual Program Statement welcomes proposals in areas that focus on:

Eligibility Criteria for Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program

Eligible Applicants

The following registered U.S. and Nigerian organizations and individuals are eligible to apply:

U.S. and Nigerian registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations.
Public and private educational and cultural institutions
Governmental institutions
For-profit or commercial entities are not eligible to apply.
