FCI4Africa Open Call 2026 is currenting ongoing. This Open Call (OC) 1 targets research and technology stakeholders—start-ups, SMEs, research organisations, and other multidisciplinary actors—to test and validate initiatives aimed at enhancing trade, addressing non-tariff measures (NTMs), and improving market access.
It focuses on:
- Developing and improving innovative tools and solutions
- Testing existing business concepts and technologies
- Generating datasets for system improvement
The goal is to strengthen innovation ecosystems across Africa by supporting practical, high-impact projects.
FCI4Africa Open Call Objectives
FCI4Africa Open Call 1 (OC1) aims to provide financial support to research and technology stakeholders to contribute to one of the following objectives:
- Objective 1: To test, validate, and enhance the existing business concepts and tools of the project, including those already developed within the Use Cases.
- Objective 2: To develop ideas and tools that address specific challenges of FCI4Africa.
All funded projects are expected to generate data sets that contribute to the refinement of tools, methodologies, and business concepts.

- Food system sustainability and resilience
- Climate-smart agriculture and innovation
- Trade and market access within food systems
- Digital tools and data-driven solutions
- Reduction of non-tariff barriers in agricultural trade
Solutions should contribute to fair, inclusive, and efficient food value chains across Africa.
