NSIA Prize for Innovation (NPI 4.0) is a flagship initiative of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority designed to support high-potential startups developing innovative solutions to critical challenges in Nigeria.
The programme targets entrepreneurs and innovators whose businesses are driving impact in healthcare, manufacturing, and climate and food security, providing them with funding, mentorship, training, and growth opportunities.
The NSIA Prize for Innovation (NPI), an initiative of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), is designed to empower entrepreneurs and changemakers whose innovative ideas can drive meaningful social and economic impact.
Designed to nurture ingenuity and accelerate high-potential ventures, NPI provides funding and strategic support to early-stage, growth-driven solutions. Through this initiative, NSIA aims to inspire groundbreaking ideas that enhance productivity, strengthen industries, and deliver lasting social impact in Nigeria and beyond.
For NPI 4.0, NSIA has built a strong ecosystem of support through its partnerships with Cascador, the Presidential Initiative for Unlocking the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC), Wema Bank, and the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan-Atlantic University. This carefully assembled coalition brings a depth of expertise, institutional networks, and resources needed to significantly deepen the value NPI 4.0 delivers to every startup that comes through the programme.
What Are The Goals of NPI?
The NSIA Prize for Innovation (NPI) was established by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority to strengthen Nigeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and support homegrown solutions with the potential to drive meaningful socio-economic development. This mandate is anchored in anchored in five clear goals.
- To recognise and reward Nigerian innovators and start-up founders in key sectors within the Nigerian business ecosystem.
- To act as an early-stage investment catalyst for innovators.
- To mentor and equip founders with the tools required for scaling and product-market fit.
- To connect startup founders to potential investors.
- To create a community of connected individuals to ensure partnership across industries and sectors.

NSIA Prize for Innovation (NPI 4.0) Programme Stages
- Pre-selection Stage: Innovators submit their applications through the application portal to provide details regarding their innovative products/services and business models.
- Accelerator Stage: The top 100 finalists will participate in a virtual training, followed by an in-person bootcamp for the top 25 finalists. A mini demo day will be held to select the top 10 finalists that will proceed to the Demo Day.
- Demo Day: Each of the 10 finalists will be allotted a timeslot to present their pitch to the judges. The judging panel will review the submissions and rank the winners from 1st to 10th. The event will be attended by a combination of local and international industry experts and investors.
- Post Demo Day: The top ten (10) finalists will participate in a fully sponsored training programme delivered in partnership with a leading institution, providing participants with strategic business support, leadership development, and capacity-building opportunities to help accelerate growth and long-term impact.
Eligibility Criteria for NSIA Prize for Innovation (NPI 4.0)
- One of the founders must be a Nigerian Citizen.
- Applicants must be 18 years or older.
- Applicants must be running innovative and social impact-driven startups.
- The startup should have operated for not less than six months and be operating in or within Nigeria.
- The startup should be looking to raise a seed round.
- The startup should have developed a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
- Applicants must be willing and able to commit to a 4-week fast-track accelerator programme.
- Only one application is permitted per applicant irrespective of the sector. Subsequent applications will be disqualified.
- The startups of the top 10 finalists must be registered in Nigeria.
