    Applications are open for Pulitzer Center Africa Education Teachers Fellowship 2026. The Africa Education Teachers’ Fellowship is a six-month hybrid professional development program designed to equip teachers with practical skills to integrate journalism into classroom teaching to strengthen critical thinking, literacy, civic engagement, climate awareness, and ethical media consumption.

    The Fellowship combines virtual learning, classroom implementation, peer learning, and action research, culminating in teachers joining a growing continental network of innovative educators.

     Africa Education Teachers Fellowship Benefits

    • Selected Fellows will participate in a collaborative professional learning journey, receive mentorship from experienced educators and journalists, develop innovative classroom projects, and join a growing network of education leaders across Africa.
    • Further, they will receive a monthly stipend to implement their projects in the classrooms.

    Fellowship Details

    By the end of the fellowship, the selected teacher fellows will:

    • Demonstrate practical integration of climate and environment journalism into lesson plans.
    • Implement up to 5 journalism-based classroom projects.
    • Use and adapt the Teachers’ Toolkit in their context.
    • Facilitate structured small-group discussions.
    • Produce a reflective portfolio of practice (optional)
    • Join and contribute to the existing Africa Teachers’ Network.

    Eligibility Criteria for Africa Education Teachers Fellowship

    • Applicants should be active teachers who demonstrate an interest in journalism, literacy, media education, or rainforest and climate and environmental education.
    • Applicants should be committed to participating fully in the Fellowship and implementing journalism-based classroom activities.
    • The call is open to primary and secondary school teachers from the following countries:
      • Cameroon
      • Democratic Republic of Congo
      • Ethiopia
      • Ghana
      • Nigeria
      • Uganda
      • Zambia
      • Burkina Faso
